If you do not assess the climate of your area, your landscape could have yellow grass or wilted plants. Most plants will thrive in a particular environment. As such, consult your landscaper to know which plants are ideal for your locality. For instance, Bluegrass and Bentgrass are considered cool-season grasses, while buffalo and Kikuyu grass will survive hot weather. Tip 2: Check Your Drainage

A proper drainage system will prevent waterlogging during irrigation or heavy rains. As such, create a slight slope to improve the drainage of your landscape. If this is not possible, install land drainage coils and French drains. Clay soils have poor drainage. If your landscape has clay soil, you could either excavate it or add organic matter to improve its soil structure. A steep slope will cause soil erosion. As such, create terraces if your land has a steep slope. 

Tip 3: Consider Recreational Areas

Swimming pools and patios will improve the functionality of your landscape. Consider infinity pools if your home has a scenic view. Enhance the appeal of your swimming pool by going for oval, free form, kidney or geometric shaped pools. Fibre optic lighting will make the pool captivating at night.

Gazebos and patios should be strategically located. For instance, they could either be an extension of your home or independent structures on the landscape. The installation should be spacious. It is especially so if you intend to hold outdoor parties in your home. The design of the patio or gazebo should blend with the landscape and the exterior of your home.  

Tip 4: Landscape Maintenance

Water your lawn in the morning or late at night when the weather is cool. Organic fertilisers will not only supply nutrients but also improve the soil structure. When using inorganic fertiliser, check its chemical composition to ensure it will not acidify the soil. Look out for weeds, pests, and invasive plants on your landscape. Remember to clean patios, gazebos and your swimming pool.
